Last year, in the month of November, Xiaomi had launched its eBook reader in the market through crowdfunding and now the company is all set to launch its successor. As per the report, Xiaomi eBook Reader Pro is all set to go official tomorrow, i.e. 15th December. It will be available for 1,090 yuan ($167) instead of a retail price of 1,299 yuan (~$199).
The teaser poster shared by the company showcases that the color of the device has been changed from White to Black. Also, it seems that the device now has a narrow frame around the screen compared to its predecessor.
The size of the screen is not yet known but it’s likely to be similar to the 6-inch display on the Xiaomi eBook Reader given that the upcoming device in the poster looks very similar to that in terms of form factor.
However, there’s a change in the design of the device. Unlike the original model, the upcoming Pro variant will have a home button, giving it the look of an AppleiPad. More details about the product remain unknown but everything will be revealed tomorrow when the device officially goes on sale.
For those who are unaware, the Xiaomi eBook Reader launched last year comes with an e-ink display that offers a pixel density of 212PPI, along with an anti-glare experience. It also has a built-in LED reading light which supports 24 stages of dimming.
It is powered by an Allwinner quad-core processor which is clocked at 1.8GHz, coupled with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The device runs the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system and supports a variety of content, including books, web-based works, as well as high-quality comics. It also supports txt files, EPUB, and PDF among other file extensions.
