For those unaware, Xiaomi updates the new generation of MIUI months after their release. This version is usually called x.5. Therefore, the upcoming latest release of MIUI will go official as MIIUI 12.5.

The company confirmed it in a post on Mi Community China. According to the post, the firm will be suspending weekly MIUI beta builds from December 14, 2020. Because it will be focusing on the release of MIUI 12.5. That means we can expect the new version of MIUI to debut on the upcoming Mi 11 series

, the OEM’s flagship smartphones for the year 2021.

Having said that, we believe MIUI 12.5 will bring minor changes and some new features. Going by the previous iterations of MIUI x.5 releases such as MIUI 11.5, MIUI 10.5, and MIUI 9.5, the forthcoming version will be a preparatory update for MIUI 13.

We expect Xiaomi to roll out this update to almost all the Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO-branded smartphones that are currently on MIUI 12.
