Chinese start-up Transsion Holdings has launched a new product under its Tecno brand. the Tecno Spark 5 is an upgrade over the Spark 4 which was launched in September last year. The Spark series is a budget series and as such the pricing is pretty affordable. The design and features are quite impressive for a cheap smartphone.
The Spark 5 features a slightly bigger 6.6-inch display with HD+ resolution of 720×1600 pixels. The display has a screen-to-body ratio of 90.2% and houses a punch-hole selfie camera.
It is powered by an unknown Octa-core processor which would likely be a MediaTek chipset. The processor is paired with 2GB of RAM and there is 32GB of expandable storage onboard. At the rear, it packs a quad-camera setup with a 13MP main sensor and quad-LED flash. The phone also packs a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The phone runs on the latest Android 10 operating system with Tecno’s custom HiOS 6.1 overlay. It crams a 5,000mAh battery. On the connectivity side, there’s 4G with VoLTE support and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Tecno Spark 5 is on pre-order in Ghana for GHS 720 (around $125). This is higher than the Spark 4’s price of Rs. 7,999 (~$113) when it was launched in India last year. It is available in four colour options; Misty Grey, Vacation Blue, Ice Jadeite, Spark Orange. They all have a wavy grooved pattern on the back and a bit of a starburst gradient.
