TCL sets date for MWC event, new own-branded and Alcatel phones incoming

Apple iPhone 11 review TCL and is heading to Barcelona to introduce its latest smartphones and technologies at MWC 2020. The company sent out invitations to media all over the world, revealing it will have a press conference on February 2020 at exactly 18:00 local time.
The event is taking place on the Saturday before the Congress, meaning once the exhibition is in full swing from February 24 to February 27, visitors will be among the first people to get their hands on the new TCL and Alcatel smartphones.
Earlier this month TCL introduced its own-branded smartphones that are in the premium segment. The TCL 10 5G and TCL 10L will have flat displays, while the TCL 10 Pro is expected to have a panel with curved edges on the side.
All three units will have four shooters on the back, lined up horizontally. We expect them to have the full range of upper-medium chipsets, including the Snapdragon 865 in the TCL 10 Pro.

Alcatel 3L, 1S, and 1V get 2020 editions; Alcatel 1B tags along

TCL may be pushing its own branded-phones but that isn’t to say it has abandoned the other brands it is a licensee. At CES 2020, four new Alcatel phones have been announced and three of them have familiar names.

The Alcatel 3L, Alcatel 1S, and Alcatel 1V all sound familiar and that is because phones with the same names were announced last year at MWC 2019 and IFA 2019. To avoid confusion, Alcatel has added “2020” as a suffix to their names.

Alongside these three, there is a new model called the Alcatel 1B.

Alcatel 3L (2020)
The 2020 edition of the Alcatel 3L has a new design. It still has a notch like last year’s model but it is a waterdrop notch and not the U-shaped type. It also has three rear cameras now and they are arranged vertically on the left side of the phone.

The display is 6.22-inches with an HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. Alcatel calls the screen Vast Display but the lower bezel is still pretty thick.

The phone has a textured Google Assistant button on the le..

Alcatel 3L, 1S, 1V and 1B go official

Samsung Galaxy Note10 review An unfortunate consequence of TCL's approach to smartphone manufacturing is a rather confusing portfolio. The company just unveiled Alcatel 3L, 1S, 1V and 1B even though we have seen all of these model numbers in the past except the 1B. Either way they are all new phones even if they reuse the names of the company's old offerings.
We start with the Alcatel 3L. Like its name suggests, it is the most “high-end” device of the bunch. Its key selling point is a triple camera headlined by the 48MP Samsung GM1 Quad Bayer sensor behind an F/1.8 lens. Alongside it, the 3L also gets a 5MP 115-degree ultrawide F/2.2 snapper and a 2MP F/2.4 macro one.
Beyond that, the Alcatel 3L has a 6.22-inch IPS HD+ 19:9 display, which Alcatel refers to as “Vast display”. It runs Android 10 on a MediaTek MT6762 chipset with an octa-core CPU, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.

TCL announces Alcatel product lineup for the first half of 2020

“Our latest smartphones, tablet and USB dongle are made for basic value seekers who are looking for the best in essential technology experiences without compromising style”, said Peter Lee, General Manager, Global Sales and Marketing at TCL Communication, at the ongoing CES 2020.

The Alcatel 3L (pictured above), not to be confused with last year’s model with the same name, represents the brand’s first 48MP triple camera smartphone. It utilizes pixel binning where 12MP pictures are being taken. The setup is being completed by a 5MP wide-angle lens with 115 degree FoV, and a 2MP macro lens.

With the Alcatel 3L we also get a new design TCL calls Aurora. To quote the company, it features “micro texture laser etching technology on a shimmering gradient back design”.

Specs include a 6.22-inch HD+ display, MediaTek’s MT6762 processor, 4GB of memory, 64GB of storage, and prices starting from $155 USD (€139). Color options include Chameleon Blue, Dark Chrome and Agate Green.
