IFA 2020 is also cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic
And as for some of the recent sad developments of COVID 19, well, one of the events that hadn’t been cancelled yet was IFA, but even if September is several months away, the company doesn’t want to take the risk. They took to Twitter to announce that there will still be an IFA 2020 but in an ‘innovative concept’ which hasn’t been disclosed yet. They are working on a concept that ‘will allow IFA to deliver on their core functions as a global showcase for technology and innovation’. We’ll keep you posted once we get the new concept revealed.
We’ve been covering a bunch of teasers and leaks of the upcoming LG Velvet, which won’t necessarily be a flagship but it will apparently bring some flagship features like LG’s dual display. The accessory was just certified by the Korean NRRA as a ‘Portable Screen Cover’ and it has a compatible model number with the Velvet, which has a very similar model number than the G9 had. This means that the Velvet could be the G9 after all but, we’ll know when we finally get it.
Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 leaks reveal 120Hz display, Infinity-O design and more details
We have some brand new leaks for the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2, starting off with the new 7.59-in foldable display that now runs a 120Hz rate, employing the company’s new Ultra Thin Glass from the Z Flip. The outer display will now be a 6.23-in 60Hz display, and they will both be Infinity O displays with a punch hole on the top right side. The report also says that it will bring an S Pen but it is not clear if it will have a dedicated slot inside the device like with the Note. The phone is also rumored to bring the same camera setup as the Galaxy S20+, not the Ultra.
We are getting a larger iPhone SE Plus, just not this year
And as for the reason why it might or might not be a good idea to wait for an iPhone later this year, this is more a two part series, starting with all the noise surrounding a larger iPhone SE Plus in the works, but that didn’t happen right now. Well, according to Ming Chi Kuo Apple will be postponing it until 2021, with no specified dates. The SE Plus is expected to bring a 5.5 or 6.1in display with a full screen design, similar to the iPhone 11 or XR. However, it is not expected to use Face Id and instead bring Touch ID in the power button. It’s not clear if it will bring a notch or not as it will only need to bring a camera and the microphone piece.
Story of the day:
Ming-Chi Kuo says that the iPhone 12 will arrive in the last quarter of 2020
iPad Pro 5G with mini LED reportedly pushed back to early 2021
And finally for the most interesting news today, let’s keep talking Apple, since even if Foxconn claimed that they were back to work and everything was back to normal, Ming Chi Kuo claims the iPhone 12 will be delayed. The report first mentions that the iPhone SE will sell 12-14 Million this quarter, and then it proceeds to mention that we will be getting 4 new iPhones which have been delayed due to travel bans, so Apple has had to delegate employees, delaying it at least a month. The mmWave antenna also had to be redesigned, but it is not clear if it will delay all models. The 5.4-in and 6.1-in models will begin mass production in September while the 6.7-in will be delayed until October. According to a Chinese publication, the mini-LED 5G iPad we were expecting this fall will also be pushed back until early 2021 due to supply chain delays with Apple’s suppliers.
