PocketBook, a company that makes e-readers, has launched the InkPad Color, which is claimed to be the first device with a new Kaleido panel to be available in the United States and the European market.
The PocketBook InkPad Color comes with a 7.8-inch display with 1404 x 1872 pixels screen resolution that uses the latest E-Ink color panel. The screen size is bigger compared to the 6-inch panel in PocketBook Color launched last year.
It offers 300-dpi resolution for monochrome content and 100 dpi for displaying colors. The company reveals that the new version of Kaleido has a different color filter pattern that offers better contrast and color saturation than the first Kaleido, which is itself a pretty new technology. It also says that the screen refresh rate has been improved in software.
Similar to the previous model, this one also comes powered by a dual-core 1GHz CPU with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage. There’s also a microSD card slot that allows users to further expand the storage capacity.
For connectivity, the device comes with support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It supports a number of formats, including ePub, PDF, CBR, CBZ, FB2, HTML, MOBI, and others. It also supports audio files and text-to-speech.
The device is running a Linux-based operating system and is powered by a 2,900mAh battery. It is now available for purchase for a price of $329.
