OPPO’s next flagship may feature custom-made Snapdragon 870

Qualcomm is expected to announce the Snapdragon 875 mobile platform as its next flagship chipset on Dec. 1. The SoC will be replacing the Snapdragon 865 SoC that fueled most of the flagship phones running on Android OS this year. A Chinese tipster has claimed that sooner or later a custom-made flagship chipset possibly dubbed as Snapdragon 870 could be seen powering an OPPO smartphone.

The Snapdragon 870

is not an official name, but it appears that the SoC will be less powerful than the upcoming SD875 chip. According to the tipster, the SD870 that can clock around 3.2GHz will be more powerful than the SD865 theoretically.

As mentioned above, it will be a custom-made chip that will fuel a forthcoming flagship. There is no word on when Qualcomm or OPPO will be revealing more details on the chip. Also, the name of the OPPO phone that will feature the SD870 chip is under wraps.
