The foldable phone market is expected to grow this year with the addition of new players. One of the rumored big names expected to launch a foldable phone this year is Google. Now a leaker has confirmed that Google is indeed planning a foldable Pixel phone.
The info comes from Jon Prosser who is best known for his Apple-related leaks. The leaker posted a tweet that said “the google pixel fold is a real thing”. In a reply to a tweet asking when the phone will launch, he says that it will arrive late this year or early next year. Of course, when it arrives, it will go by a different name and not Pixel Fold.
Google already added support for foldable phones with the release of Android 10. The operating system has native support for foldable devices with different folding patterns. Features such as app continuity, resizable apps, and multi-window support for more than two apps are baked into Android.Google, Xiaomi, and OPPO. We expect the display to have a high refresh rate like the Galaxy Z Fold 2. However, we do not know if it will have a design similar to the Galaxy Z Flip or Motorola Razr or if it will be a phone that unfolds into a tablet.
