‘iPhoneOS’ moniker appears in leaked promo before WWDC 2020 event

Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2020 will be held between June 22 and June 26. The event will kick at 10 AM PDT in the U.S. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be an online-only event. Apple is expected to announce updates for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, TvOS, and watchOS at the WWDC 2020. Since the company has used the platform to announce new hardware in 2017 and 2019, there is a possibility that it may also unveil new hardware at the WWDC. Reputed tipster Jon Prosser recently hinted that the operating system for the iPhones will be sporting a new name of ‘iPhoneOS.’ A leaked promo showcasing the iPhone OS moniker that surfaced on Reddit first is now doing rounds on social platforms.

Earlier, Apple’s iPad ran on iOS. However, the Cupertino-based company renamed it to iPadOS last year. It is going to do the same for iOS for its iPhones. The company is all set to introduce version iOS 14 at the WWDC 2020. The iOS 14 for iPhones will most likely be dubbed as iPhoneOS.
