Earlier today (30th October 2020), the Huawei Mate 40 series was finally launched in China. The company’s Consumer Business CEO and Executive Director Yu Chengdong launched the latest flagship, along with Huawei AR Map 2.0.
For those unaware, Huawei AR Map was originally launched with the P40 series earlier this year. Now, the next iteration has been unveiled for the Mate 40 series. The latest version arrives with various improvements in areas like speed, accuracy, AI recognition through visual positioning that works with coordinated optimization of software and hardware. It supports various new locations as well alongside the ones that were previously available.
The new Huawei AR Map 2.0 is said to be based on the Hetu technology, which should make mapping more accurate and quicker. Furthermore, this system also relies on an improved AI recognition solution. AR Maps is essentially an augmented reality feature that lets users experience notable landmarks and areas with a 1:1 ratio with the real world through their smartphones. Fun activities such as mythical creatures and virtual characters can be found when using the map in the real world as well.
