The next generation of the Apple AirPods are expected to launch in the third quarter of this year, with production for the popular hearables already being underway, as per sources close to the matter.
According to a DigiTimes report (Via MacRumors), the Cupertino based giant is planning on launching the new iteration of the AirPods, its truly wireless earbuds in the third quarter of 2021. The report adds that one of the iPhone maker’s supplier has already began production as well. The supplier in question is the Taiwan based ASE Technology. Unfortunately, there are currently no further details available at this moment regarding the matter.
Although, the timeframe for the launch is in line with previous reports, which were from known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The analyst believed that the company will begin the production of the third generation of AirPods will begin mass production in the third quarter of this year, which runs from July to September. Prior to this, Kuo believed that the next gen AirPods would launch in the first half of this year, but that seems to no longer be the case.
As per other recent report, the AirPods 3 is expected to feature a design similar to that of the AirPods Pro. This includes having a shorter stem, but without the silicone ear tips or the active noise cancellation. The lack of these features would enable a lower price tag as well.
